The Indian team had thrashed the England team in the first T20I at Kolkata beating them by seven wickets and taking the lead in the five-match series in style. Though Abhishek Sharma played another impressive knock yesterday it was the bowlers who set the game up for India to restrict England to just 132 runs in the first innings.
The heroes with the ball for India were Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy. While Arshdeep set the tone with the new ball dismissing the England openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in the powerplay, Varun made sure he contained the batters in the middle overs and took three crucial wickets during and was adjudged the player of the match. Arshdeep ended up with figures of 2/17 in four overs and Varun Chakravarthy finished his spell with figures of 3/23 in his full quota of four overs.

In a recently released video by the BCCI, both Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy were talking about each other’s spell in the match and praising each other. In the video, it was also brought up that Arshdeep Singh after the match also became the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is overtaking Yuzvendra Chahal. There was also a moment in the video where Arshdeep apologized to the leg spinner in the end as well. This shows the humble and respectful nature of the 25-year-old left-arm seamer from Punjab.

Speaking of Arshdeep’s record in T20Is he has played 61 matches for the Indian team so far and has taken 97 wickets at an average of 17.90 and has an economy of 8.24. he is just three more wickets away from being the first Indian pacer to get to 100 wickets in T20Is. He is currently ranked number 8 in the ICC T20I rankings as well.
