Chris Wood won hearts with a touching display of sportsmanship when he chose not to run out Matthew Parkinson after the batter took a hard knock during the Hampshire-Kent match of the current T20 Blast 2024.
Joey Evison struck a strong ball towards the non-striker after Wood delivered a full delivery to him during the game's penultimate over. Regretfully, Parkinson was struck hard by the ball that went right to him. At once he collapsed to the floor.
Wood had a clear chance to run Parkinson out because he was already halfway down the wicket when the ball hit him, but he decided against doing so.

He emphasised the value of having strong moral principles and being a good athlete with this gesture. Furthermore, he made the decision to not run him out because the game was virtually finished.
In regards to the match, Kent scored 165/9 in 20 overs. Conversely, Chris Wood was the standout bowler, taking 2/19 in 4 overs to help limit the opposition to a respectable total.
