[WATCH] Fire erupts in Islamabad's team hotel of PSL players

The tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin on April 11, with the opening match scheduled between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. However, just ahead of the season’s kick-off, a fire broke out at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, where several PSL teams and players were staying.

According to reports, the fire originated on the top floor of the five-star hotel. Eight fire brigade vehicles were immediately dispatched to the scene and were able to bring the situation under control in time. Fortunately, there was no damage reported. All players and members of team management staying at the hotel are confirmed to be safe and secure.

“The fire erupted on the top floor of the five-star hotel. Eight fire brigade vehicles reached the spot to extinguish the fire,” said the spokesperson of the district administration as quoted by Daily Ausaf.

The hotel’s emergency protocols were immediately activated, and the fire was swiftly contained by the hotel’s trained emergency response team in coordination with local fire services. Fortunately, there was no loss or damage to property, and no evacuation of guests or staff was required. As a result, the condition at the property is currently said to have been normalized by the authorities.

Despite the unexpected incident, the PSL 2025 season will proceed, with the much-anticipated first match featuring three-time champions Islamabad facing off against two-time winners Qalandars. Fans are looking forward to an action-packed tournament, as six competitive teams gear up to battle for the prestigious title.
