Watch: KL Rahul pulls Khaleel Ahmed's delivery for an emphatic maximum
KL Rahul played a defining innings of 77(51).
Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul played an impressive pull shot against Khaleel Ahmed in the match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, April 5. The DC batter deposited the left-arm pacer's ball over the fence in the deep fine leg region and fetched maximum runs, on his way to his first fifty-plus score of the season later.
In the absence of Faf du Plessis, Rahul was promoted up the order as an opener. The right-handed batter saw the dismissal of his partner Jake Fraser-McGurk in the very first over. Khaleel bowled well with the new ball, as he got it to swing and extracted a bit of extra bounce from the surface.

Dealing with Ahmed in the Powerplay overs did not seem easy. But Rahul was determined to make good use of the field restrictions. One of the deliveries was directed towards his waist region. The star batter sensed it, recognized that the fine leg fielder was up, and dispatched the ball over the deep square leg region.

In his stay in the middle, the opening batter scored 77 runs in 51 balls at a batting strike rate of 150.98, which included six fours and three sixes respectively. It was his first fifty of the season. Rahul batted well against both the pacers and spinners.
Unlike the last few seasons, he showed intent to score runs. It helped him big time, as the star batter targeted the spinners and hit them over and in between the fielders. His knock helped DC to post a total of 183/6 on the board. Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs helped him at the other end with their cameos.
