Star India pacer Mohammed Shami is currently recovering from a string of injuries. Shami played in the ODI World Cup 2023 with problems in his ankle and underwent surgery shortly after the conclusion of the World Cup.

However, Shami was recently captured bowling for more than an hour on one of the main pitches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after India’s first Test loss to New Zealand. He was also seen taking part in fielding drills.

It is worth noting that Shami’s left knee was heavily strapped but was bowling on full tilt to India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, with Morne Morkel watching over the session. Much to the fans’ delight, Shami did not look in any discomfort, almost bowling continuously, only taking a break during the fielding drills.

Interestingly, Shami began his training session around 2:30 PM and bowled a few warm-up deliveries before bowling from his full run-up and did so for the rest of his practice.

Watch the video below:

Shami had undergone his surgery in London in February and has been unable to recover in time for India’s domestic season or the Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. After the start of the first Test against New Zealand, India skipper Rohit Sharma came forward and informed that Shami had suffered a setback after there was some swelling in his knee.

"He has not played any cricket for over a year. It is quite tough for a fast bowler to have missed so much of cricket and then suddenly come out and be at his best. It is not ideal. We will want to give him enough time to recover and be 100% fit,” Rohit had said.

"We don't want to bring an undercooked Shami to Australia. That is not going to be the right decision for us,” he added.
