The Vijay Hazare Trophy is now down to the final eight teams which will be starting from tomorrow at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The 2nd preliminary quarter-final match between Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu was one of the most entertaining matches where both the teams showed a lot of fight during the match.

There were some great innings in the match which also included an innings from Tamil Nadu’s star N Jagadeesan who played a great knock while chasing down a total of 268 which was set by Rajasthan. Jagadeesan scored 65 from 52 deliveries in the game while opening the batting. The innings included 10 fours where he showed a great display of elegant stroke-making in the match. This knock helped build a great partnership with Vijay Shankar which kept them in the game.

One of the highlights of Jagadeesan’s innings came in the second over of the chase where he smashed Aman Singh Shehkhawat for 29 runs and smashed six boundaries in a row. Shehkhawat started off the over with 5 wides and after that, it was a Jagadeesan show. The first ball was a mistimed shot which went over the slip for a boundary. The next three deliveries were once again short and wide where Jagadeesan executed the cut shots well hitting two past the point region and one being upper cut towards the third man region. The other two boundaries came on the leg side where he pulled one delivery in the square leg region and the last one was just picked off the pads for another boundary.

Speaking of the match despite the efforts from Jagadeesan and Vijay Shankar, the Tamil Nadu team still fell short by 19 runs with Shekhawat coming back in the second spell and getting three wickets. The player of the match was Rajasthan’s opening batter Abhijeet Tomar who scored 111 runs from 125 deliveries to help his team set a competitive total.
