The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is underway and the third match of the season was played between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans on April 12. The David Warner-led Karachi side won the match by four wickets and registered a convincing victory, chasing down 235 within 19.2 overs.

For the Kings, top-order batter James Vince played a brilliant knock, scoring a match-winning century that guided his team to victory. In recognition of his outstanding performance, the right-handed batter was awarded the ‘Reliable Player of the Match’ inside the dressing room. As part of the award, the Karachi Kings owner presented Vince with a hair dryer, as a token of appreciation for his game-changing innings.

In the post match presentation, after receiving the Player of the Match award, James Vince praised his batting partner Khusdhil Shah for his crucial partnership. He also mentioned that the pitch was batting-friendly, which gave him the confidence to play his natural game. He revealed that his plan was to stay at the crease till the end and anchor the chase, ensuring that the team crossed the line comfortably.

“Quite a tough chase, but when we batted we realised how nice a surface this was. Luckily, whenever we needed a boundary we found it. The way Khushdil batted was also great. When the rate gets beyond 15-16, the game gets away from you at any game. So the way Khushdil attacked CJ when the rate was climbing was amazing. I did the hard work so would have been nice to stay till the end, but we bat quite deep and that helps in chases like this,” said the English batter.

What happened in the match?

Karachi had won the toss and chose to field, but the Sultans capitalised, with skipper Mohammad Rizwan scoring an unbeaten 105 off 63 balls. Kamran Ghulam (36 off 19) and Michael Bracewell (44 off 17) powered them to 234/3. In response, Karachi’s chase stumbled early, but Vince turned the game with a stunning 101 off just 43 balls, supported by Khushdil's 60 off 37. Despite Akif Javed’s three wickets for Multan, Karachi won by 4 wickets in a last-over thriller.
