Gujarat Titans (GT) explosive southpaw Rahul Tewatia revealed that he reminisced his blitzkrieg against Punjab Kings from the 2020 season of the IPL while donning the Rajasthan Royals outfit. Notably, the southpaw hammered a 31-ball 53 during the match against Punjab at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium which steered his side to a thrilling win.

His knock included as many as seven maximums at a stunning strike rate of 170.96 while chasing Punjab’s 223. Tewatia revealed that it was only a few days ago wherein he watched the entire knock as someone had sent him images of the innings with a song by famous Indian rapper Divine linked to it which he could perfectly relate with.

“Yes, just three days ago, on the flight from Lucknow. I started watching it because someone had sent me an edited clip of the images from the innings that had been stitched together with the soundtrack of the song by Divine, ‘Edit karke Image tune mera Meme bana diya’. It also had the first 17-18 deliveries where I got four to five runs. I was like this song fits perfectly with the innings I played,” Tewatia was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

For the unversed, the Royals snatched the win against Punjab by four wickets in the thrilling affair with instrumental knocks by Tewatia, Sanju Samson (85 off 42 balls) and the then skipper Steve Smith (50 off 27 balls). At present, Tewatia is plying his trade for defending champions Gujarat Titans but is yet to score big for the franchise.

The southpaw has collected 63 runs in 11 appearances with his personal best of an unbeaten 20 runs. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat are well on course to cement their place in the play-offs as they sit atop the IPL Points Table with 16 points in 11 matches and a solid Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.951. With three games in hand in the group fixtures, Gujarat will look to come all guns blazing and make a place in the Qualifier 1 spot.
