Australia will commence their campaign with a clash against India in Chennai on October 8.
The 13th edition of the World Cup is set to captivate fans all across the globe after The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the World Cup Schedule exactly 100 days ahead of the commencement of the global event. It will be a clash of the titans when five-time champions and the most successful team in the competition's history, Australia (AUS), takes on India in their campaign opener in Chennai on October 8.
Five-time champions Australia, who lifted their last title on their home soil in 2015, will face stiff competition from host India, their first opponent in this year's quadrennial tournament. They travel to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for their campaign opener.
Following the game against India, another stern test awaits the Aussies as they take on a star-studded Proteas in Lucknow on October 13 in their second match of the World Cup. Australia will take on one of the two teams from the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers in their third match, followed by a game against Pakistan at the Chinnaswamy on October 20.
Australia will clash against Trans-Tasman rivals and last edition's runner-ups New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 28. The game against New Zealand will be a precursor to Australia's mouthwatering encounter against arch-rivals and reigning champions England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 4.
Pat Cummins' men will have a relatively easier run in their last two fixtures as they take on Afghanistan and Bangladesh in their final round-robin matches. The Men in Yellow will hope to rack as many wins under their best as possible as the top four teams of the World Cup Points table will qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
