Bangladesh suffered a two-game loss to team India in the recently concluded Test series between both sides. The two teams first met at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where, despite showing some promise, Bangladesh succumbed to a 280-run loss.

Furthermore, both sides faced off in Kanpur next, where, despite rain making no play possible for multiple days, India managed to snatch a win from Bangladesh on the last two days of the game. In the second Test of the series, India defeated the visitors by seven wickets and clinched the series.

Reflecting on his side’s performance, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe rued Bangladesh’s defeat against India. It is worth noting that Bangladesh came into the series on the back of a series win against Pakistan, but according to the head coach, the side failed to adapt to India’s approach.

"The defeat is really hurting us in terms of our performance. (India's approach) was really not seen before. All credit to Rohit and the Indian team for coming up with that approach, and making a match of it. We actually didn't react quick enough (to India's approach)," Hathurusinghe was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Batting was disappointing in this series: Hathurusinghe

Furthermore, the head coach talked about Bangladesh’s subpar batting performance throughout the series. He expressed how disappointing the showing with the bat has been across the two matches and highlighted the quality of India’s bowling attack for the failure with the bat.

“Batting was disappointing in this series. Some players did well in the last series. We have not been performing to our potential in the last few series. One reason for the batting was the quality of the opposition. The skill level in display in this series was very high. We are taking a lot of learnings from this. This is the best team. Playing India in India is the toughest assignment. We know how much we need to improve," Hathurusinghe said.
