‘We are going to do our best’ - Rahul Dravid ahead of T20 World Cup 2022
India haven't lost a T20I bilateral series since the T20 World Cup 2021.
After the 2-1 series win against South Africa, India have managed to keep their winning run in T20I bilateral series since T20 World Cup 2021 intact. The Men in Blue under Head Coach Rahul Dravid are yet to lose a T20I series and will be heading into the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia as the number one ranked team.
With Dravid in the dressing room, players have been given fair amount of opportunities and there has been clear indication regarding the demands from certain individuals in the build-up to the ICC tournament.
KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Arshdeep Singh were rested for the final T20I against South Africa at Holkar Stadium and it did expose few of the problems especially in the bowling department. With Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022, it is going to be tough work for the youngsters in the bowling department.
The preparations are now over, and India’s T20 World Cup squad will be flying to Australia for the mega event soon. After the series win against South Africa, Dravid is quite hopeful about the Indian side giving it’s best in the global tournament.
We’ve really worked hard and we can just hope for the best: Rahul Dravid
Dravid mentioned that the team has worked really hard so far, and hence they are optimistic about positive returns in Australia. He also signified the importance of the luck factor and explained the influence of crowd’s support which has been encouraging the side while touring other nations.
“We are going to do our best, we’ve really worked hard and we can just hope for the best. In tournaments like those, you need to play really well but we need a bit of luck as well. We hope to bring smiles to people’s faces. I think since crowds have been allowed into stadiums, we’ve got great support everywhere we’ve gone and the boys are really encouraged by that support. We’ll have that in Australia as well, we’ll try our best,” Rahul Dravid told after the third T20I while addressing the media.
