Former Indian cricket legend, Virender Sehwag, is known for his explosive batting and bold statements off the field. In a recent conversation with Australian great Adam Gilchrist, Sehwag revealed an offer that he once turned down from the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia.
On the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Gilchrist asked Sehwag whether Indian players would ever participate in other T20 leagues apart from the Indian Premier League (IPL), "Do you see a time where Indian players will ever be able to go & play other T20 leagues?"
Sehwag's response was typically blunt, stating that Indian cricketers are rich enough and do not need to play in other countries. "No, Don't need, we are rich people, we don't go to poor countries for other leagues," he said.

Sehwag then opened up about when he was offered a contract by a BBL franchise after being dropped from the Indian team. The offer was a substantial USD 100,000, but Sehwag dismissed it with a laugh, claiming that he could easily spend that amount on his holidays.
"I still remember when I was dropped from the Indian team, I was playing IPL, then I got an offer from BBL that I should participate in Big Bash, I said okay how much money, they said $100,000. I said I can spend that money on my holidays, even though last night's bill was more than $100,000," he revealed.

Since the IPL began in 2008, Indian players have benefited from big contracts and are earning enormous sums of money even for a single season of play.
The players receive large endorsements and financial benefits from their contracts. Indian players no longer worry about money because they already make a lot from IPL.
