‘We beat Pakistan in all four departments’ - Ali Khan reflects on beating Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024
"We weren't under pressure; they were. We knew we were capable of beating them. We beat Pakistan in all four departments, including fitness," Ali Khan said.
The T20 World Cup 2024 was not a memorable affair for Pakistan cricket. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan failed to reach the knockout stages of the tournament and were eliminated from the group stages of the competition. One of the biggest highlights of the tournament was the USA defeating Pakistan in an upset for the ages.
The USA managed to limit Pakistan to a score of 159/7, and as they came out to chase the target, the USA looked set for a clear win, cruising to 111 runs in 14 overs, but failed to go all the way and managed to score 159 runs in the second innings, which propelled the game into a super over.
However, they scored 18 runs in the super over, limited Pakistan to just 13 runs, and registered a historic win. Recalling the clash, the USA’s Ali Khan recently came forward and opined that they defeated Pakistan in every department.

"We weren't under pressure; they were. We knew we were capable of beating them. We beat Pakistan in all four departments, including fitness. We are capable enough of beating them (the Men in Green) again. No disrespect to them, but I think we are a really good side, if we have a full-strength squad we can beat any team on our day, not just Pakistan but it will be a great game of we play them again,” Ali Khan was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
Co-hosting the tournament with the West Indies, the USA put in brilliant performances throughout the competition and managed to make it past the group stages. Placed in Group A, the USA finished in second place behind India, winning two out of the four games that they played.
Furthermore, they failed to make it past the super eight as they finished in fourth in group 2 of the super eight, losing all three of the matches that they played.
