‘We can provide near 24 hour daylight, as well as better Tweets’ - Iceland Cricket takes dig at ECB

India and Pakistan haven’t played a Test series since 2007 due to a wide array of political conflicts between the countries. The two sides have been facing each other only during ICC events and multi-nation tournaments. 

Hours after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) offered to host an India-Pakistan Test series, Iceland Cricket came up with a cheeky response on Twitter. They have been taking hilarious digs at ECB by tweeting that they can provide better facilities including 24-hour daylight and sniper security for the series.  

“We hear @ECB_cricket have offered to host a Test series between India and Pakistan. We officially announce to @ICC that we are also offering to do the same & can provide near 24 hour daylight in June and July, as well as better Tweets covering the matches. Sniper security too,” Iceland Cricket tweeted.

In another tweet, Iceland Cricket left the netizens in splits by unveiling a Volcanic Ashes trophy that they would honour the winner of the India and Pakistan series with.

“This is the Volcanic Ashes trophy for when Pakistan play India in a 3 Test series here. It's currently given to the winners of our indoor club tournament, but we can create a new mickey mouse event & trophy for them. Filled with ash from our eruptions & set in a basaltic base,” Iceland Cricket added in another tweet.

After the two tweets, a fan on Twitter suggested for throwing of axes to decide the winner if the India and Pakistan series ends up in a draw. The fan actually attached a video in 2020 when Iceland were set to host the European series and the Covid-19 lockdown had forced to decide the winners through an axe throwing event inside the doors. The Iceland Cricket responded to it in a humorous way.

“We are not one to suggest new rules, but the approach in this video is certainly one we could adopt if the 3 Test series between Pakistan and India was drawn. Someone needs to take home that inaugural Volcanic Ashes trophy,” Iceland Cricket's response to the fan.
