India’s Champions Trophy squad was finalised earlier this week and the team is being considered to be one of the favorites to win the tournament with some big cricketing stars in the mix. While most of the tournament will be held in Pakistan, India's matches will be played in Dubai and the team will be led by Rohit Sharma.
While there are some in-form players included in the squad there are still a lot of questions surrounding whether this team can win the ICC event. The biggest blows to the Indian team are the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and the inconsistent form of Indian legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has shown confidence in the team and has praised the selectors saying that they have picked the best possible side and the mindset of the team is positive ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy after the England series. He also said that the form of Rohit and Virat and Bumrah's exclusion will not matter a lot.
“We have picked the best team for the Champions Trophy. And I believe we will win the trophy. India have such a big bench strength, and I don't think it (Jasprit Bumrah's absence) will have any major issue with the team combination," said Saikia as quoted by NDTV.

“Everything is very positive in the team (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in form); see the England series; the results are in front of you. The conditions will be more or less the same in Dubai, like the Indian conditions. India came out in such a good manner (against England) with a series whitewash in ODIs and a 4-1 win in T20Is. The morale and spirit of the team is at the highest level," the BCCI Secretary added.
India squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohd. Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Varun Chakaravarthy.
