After back-to-back wins over UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants to kickstart the ongoing Women’s Premier League season, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered consecutive losses against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in their last two matches. Courtesy of the same, they are currently fourth on the points table and are out of playoff contention.

To change that, veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry asked her teammates to remain positive and consistent in the remaining games. Notably, the Smriti Mandhana-led side will challenge UP Warriorz in their last home match this season at M Chinnaswamy Stadium as winning this game will strengthen their place in the top three. Ahead of that, Perry has mentioned that the competition has been tough and their upcoming couple of matches will be extremely important for them as they can decide their fate in the league.

“The competition has been tough. I guess the next couple of matches are very important for us. We have to be positive, which we have been throughout, and keep taking on the challenges. There’s not too much difference between playing really good games and not being quite on the mark. So, it’s about being as consistent as possible from here on in,” Perry was quoted as saying by India Today.

Notably, Perry missed the game against Delhi Capitals due to illness. However, she made her return in the match against Mumbai Indians, in which, she made 44* runs off 38 deliveries. Courtesy of her knock, Bangalore posted 131 runs on the board in the first innings. Meanwhile, after the match, Mandhana confirmed that the Australia international wasn’t at her 100 percent but decided to play and gave her all in the middle.

With the tournament heading towards its business end, Bangalore cannot afford to drop any points. Their batting has been a bit concerning in the last two matches and that’s the area they need to improve immediately to make it to their first playoff in WPL. Perry, who is now fit, will be a key part of this journey.
