India are currently locking horns with hosts Bangladesh in the second and final Test match and are already leading the two-match series 1-0. One of the most talked about points which seemed to have baffled many fans and members of the cricketing fraternity was the exclusion of spinner Kuldeep Yadav as he was replaced by pacer Jaydev Unadkat for the 2nd Test.

The omission of the left-arm wrist spinner left people stunned as the player was adjudged the Player of the Match for his phenomenal performance in the first Test. He marked a successful comeback to the Test format after he relished bowling figures of 5/40 and 3/73 in addition to making 40 runs with the bat in the first innings, which proved to be vital for the side.

Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav opined that Kuldeep's exclusion was a tactical change made by the team management keeping the wicket into consideration.

“It’s part of your journey; it has happened with me also. Sometimes you perform; sometimes you are sitting out of the team because of a management call. But it was good for him (Kuldeep) that he came back and performed well.

This is the team and the management call (to not pick him). Sometimes we have to go with the team requirements. You see the wicket and, after that, the management takes the call,” Umesh told broadcasters after the match.

The Indian bowling unit fired in unison courtesy of Ravichandran Ashwin’s and Umesh’s four-fers on Day 1. Bangladesh were bundled out for just 227 runs after opting to bat first in the contest. India will be on the lookout to display another dominant performance with the bat and aim to seal the series.
