Former India cricketer Varun Aaron was all in praises for Delhi Capitals' (DC) newcomer Vipraj Nigam who has taken everyone by surprise. Being a debutant in IPL 2025, the uncapped player has shown courage and delivered outstanding performances in the tournament so far. The 20-year-old legbreak bowler has taken five wickets in four matches at an average of 20.20.
He has just started his cricket career in the domestic set-up too and has shown great confidence in the IPL. Last night against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he dismissed Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya, maintaining the pressure on the team. In four overs, he claimed two wickets and conceded just 18 runs. Not to forget, he effected the run out of Phil Salt which changed the game completely.
Aaron highlighted the need for young domestic bowlers to show their potential in the IPL. The platform has given youngsters a chance to perform well and steal the limelight for the good. As per Aaron, Vipraj has been a good 'investment' for DC.
"Vipraj was brilliant tonight, he’s a great find for Delhi Capitals. He’s contributed both with the ball and, as we've seen, can be destructive with the bat too. Going forward, he’s great value for the investment Delhi Capitals made in him. We need more domestic players like him to step up in the TATA IPL and help take their teams over the line," said Aaron on JioHotstar.

DC were outstanding in the previous match against RCB. Playing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, the home team received the support they would have expected. However, their poor performance was a disappointment for the fans. RCB scored just 163 runs in the first innings thanks to Phil Salt (37 off 17) and Tim David's (37* off 20) cameos.
Despite batting at the No.4 position, KL Rahul made sure to play a T20 innings and take the team home. He bashed the RCB bowlers in their own den, scoring unbeaten 93 runs off 53 balls, including seven boundaries and six maximums. He celebrated with a chest thump, letting everyone know that it was his home ground as well. For an astounding performance, he won the Player of the Match award.
