Australia skipper Pat Cummins reckoned that they have played more white-ball cricket in India than in their own country ahead of their opening match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. Australia will lock horns against hosts India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.

Cummins stated that Australia are confident playing against India, claiming the Kangaroos know the conditions well. Notably, Australia head into the 50-over World Cup after a win against the same opponent in the final match of the three-game ODI series despite losing it 2-1.

"We have played more white ball cricket in India than Australia in the last 10 years. We know the condition very well. The positive thing is that we have played some really good cricket against India in the last few years......We cannot take credit for the World Cup win of the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s," Cummins said during the pre-match press conference in Chennai.

This is my first as a captain; it is really special: Cummins

Pat Cummins stated that the tournament feels like a two-month-long campaign. The 30-year-old also said that the event is extra special for him as it is his first ODI World Cup as captain.

"The most exciting thing about the World Cup is that it feels like a campaign. It is a journey to try to make a couple of months special. This is my first as a captain, it is really special," Cummins said.

The star speedster further opened up about the challenges they could face in playing against a team in front of their home crowd.

"The home crowd will be noisy and one-sided which is nothing new. It is always tough to play with the team-at-home crowd as fans will be cheering for them," the 30-year-old added.
