The Rohit Sharma-led team India ended Day 4 (June 10) of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at 164 for 3, and still need 280 runs to win to scale the peak of 444. Virat Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (20*) aided India's comeback, after Rohit, Shubman Gill, and Cheteshwar Pujara were removed. Kohli and Rahane have stitched an unbeaten 71-run fourth-wicket stand to keep India in contention to win the title.

Earlier, when India's run chase began opener Shubman Gill was adjudged out by the third umpire as Australia's Cameron Green tried to hold on to a catch that looked slightly controversial. The dismissal of Gill sparked controversy, with several cricket pundits pointing out that Green's hand was not under the ball when he caught it. It occurred in the eighth over of India's second innings when Gill nicked a length ball from Scott Boland straight to Green in the gully region.

In a social media post, the young Indian opener expressed his disappointment over the decision that led to his dismissal. After the game, the 23-year-old posted an image of Green's catch with the emoticons of a magnifying glass.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appears to have issued an indirect message to Gill that he should take the decision in a sporting way. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla gave his take on the issue in an interaction with an Indian media outlet. He stated that there is no need to create a dispute over the decision and that the third umpire's judgment should be accepted.

"We should not create a dispute over this. We should accept the decision of the Third umpire," Shukla was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

He later stated that India still can chase the target on Day 5 of the one-off Test.

"Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli are batting well and if everyone plays safe we can chase down the target as the target is not that big," said Shukla.

Meanwhile, Green has said that he was certain that he had caught the ball during the post-match press conference. The 24-year-old all-rounder also said that in the heat of the moment, he believed that it was clean and threw it up, showing no evidence of doubt.
