Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, emphasized from the outset that the scheduling of their Super 8 campaign would not serve as an excuse for their performances, unlike certain players from other teams who had expressed concerns regarding their scheduling and travel arrangements.

Just days before their encounter against Afghanistan, the first of three matches squeezed into a tight five-day window, Rohit expressed that the team exhibited high intensity and enthusiasm to achieve something significant. He noted that this collective spirit underscored everyone's commitment to contribute effectively. Rohit also acknowledged that it would be a demanding regimen. However, the Indian captain boldly stated that both he and his team were accustomed to such intensity, and therefore, they would not allow it to serve as an excuse for their forthcoming performances.

"There's real keenness in the group to go and do something special. So, that's a good way to start our second stage in the tournament. Clearly shows that everybody wants to make a difference, and obviously, we take our skill sessions quite seriously. There's something to achieve in every session. Once we play our first game, we'll be playing the next 2 games in a span of 3-4 days. It's going to be a little hectic, but again, we're used to all of this. We travel a lot, we play a lot. So, that's never going to be an excuse," stated Rohit ahead of the Afghanistan tie, as attributed by the Hindustan Times.

Everyone's looking forward and quite excited at the same time: Rohit

In an effort to shift the interviewer's focus away from discussions about scheduling and related matters, Rohit emphasized their team's preference to concentrate more on honing their skills and collective objectives rather than external factors. He stressed the significance of every training session under these circumstances, highlighting the squad's ample experience in Caribbean conditions and their clear understanding of specific goals needed to achieve success.

"We'll look to focus a lot more on our skills and what we need to do as a team rather than all this. Every session then becomes really important and our aim is to make the best use of it. We've seen a lot of games here, played a lot of games here, so everyone understands what one needs to do to get the result in our favour. Everyone's looking forward and quite excited at the same time," added Rohit.
