'We were never close friends' - Yuvraj Singh on his relationship equation with MS Dhoni
"My lifestyle was very different from his, so we were never close friends, just because of cricket,” Yuvraj Singh said.
Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh recently came forward to talk about his relationship with former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni. Being a part of the podcast of the renowned YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia, Yuvraj Singh shed light on how TRP-hungry people painted him in the wrong manner and opened up about his relationship equation with Dhoni. In the same vein, the 2011 ODI World Cup 'Man of the Tournament' in a shocking revelation said that he and MS Dhoni have never been close friends.
Albeit, he did not miss out on saying that when it came to playing for the country on the field, both of them gave their 100 per cent commitment and showed true passion for the game and love of cricket. Hence it was just that the game brought them together and start their friendship.
“Me and Mahi are not close friends; we were friends because of cricket; we played together. My lifestyle was very different from his, so we were never close friends, just because of cricket,” Yuvraj Singh said in 'The Ranveer Show' (TRS) podcast.
“When me and Mahi went on the ground, we gave more than 100% to our country. In that, he was captain, I was vice-captain. When I came into the team, I was 4 years junior. When you are captain and vice-captain, there will be decision differences,” Yuvraj Singh said.
Sharing the stage for several years, both Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh became irreplaceable players for the Indian team. Winning some of the biggest titles together, the partnership between Dhoni and Yuvraj has given the fans some unforgettable moments over the years.
Sometimes he made decisions I didn't like: Yuvraj
Furthermore, Yuvraj Singh also stated that sometimes, MS Dhoni made decisions that he did not like, and vice versa. However, he opined that the same happens in every team, and also stated how Dhoni was always the one to always give him real and honest opinions.
"Sometimes he made decisions I didn't like, sometimes I made decisions he didn't like. That happens in every team. When I was at the end of my career, when I wasn't getting the right picture about my career, I asked him for advice. He was the guy who told me that the selection committee is not looking you right now. I was like, at least I got to know the real picture. This is just before 2019 World Cup. That is the reality," Yuvraj Singh concluded.
