We were probably victim to a match-winning catch: Stephen Fleming
CSK lost their fourth consecutive match in Chennai.
The five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are almost out of the tournament after a five-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25. This was CSK's fourth consecutive loss on their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. After the loss, head coach Stephen Fleming spoke to the press regarding the match and praised CSK debutant Dewald Brevis for his outstanding knock of 25-ball 42 runs.
The young batter was dismissed because of Kamindu Mendis' outstanding catch, which was a flying full-length dive at long-off. Everyone was awe-struck by the efforts, while Fleming mentioned that CSK were the victims of a 'match-winning' catch. Following Brevis' wicket, the middle order collapsed like a pack of cards.
"I thought Brevis was outstanding. We were probably victim to a match-winning catch," said Stephen Fleming.
CSK managed to put up 154 runs on the board, which wasn't a match-winning score. This season, the Super Kings are having a significant issue with the batting lineup. Despite making several changes, they still haven't figured out what's going wrong in the team. After the 2020 and 2022 seasons, this is the first time in the league's history that the team has looked this weak.

We need something like that in the middle order: MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni, CSK's captain, praised the newcomer for his stunning batting performance in the match. He struggled in the middle and was on 17 off 17, but then got his rhythm back after hitting three sixes off Kamindu Mendis. Dhoni revealed the areas where they struggled and are looking forward to rectifying the mistakes of the past.
"He [Brevis] batted really well, and we need something like that in the middle order. Where we have slightly struggled is when the spinners come in, that's the time we need to either... pick up your areas where you're scoring or try to play the big shot once in your area. So, I feel that's where we have been lacking. We have not been able to dominate or get runs against the spinners at a good pace in the middle," said MS Dhoni at the post-match presentation.
