In an unexpected turn of events, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell finds himself in the spotlight for a late-night incident in Adelaide, labelled as 'alcohol-related.' The cricketer, who was recently withdrawn from the ODI squad against the West Indies due to workload management, was reportedly involved in an incident at a local pub.

Australia's skipper, Pat Cummins, faced questions about Maxwell's conduct, but he kept his response concise, emphasising personal responsibility. He expressed that individuals must make their own decisions as adults who have experienced night outings.

"We're all adults, been part of night outings, you have got to make your own decisions. I suppose in this actual incident, he was obviously not on tour with the Australians, he was over there for a private event, he was not with the cricket team. So, it is a little bit different. Absolutely, any decision that you make, you have got to own it and be comfortable with it," Cummins was quoted as saying by India Today.

Maxwell's removal from the ODI squad raised eyebrows, with Cricket Australia asserting that it was unrelated to the recent incident. The organisation released a brief statement addressing the situation, acknowledging Maxwell's involvement in the Adelaide incident and stating that further information is being sought.

"Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information," a statement said.

According to reports, Maxwell made a brief appearance at a golf club before heading to a pub where former Australia bowler Brett Lee's band was performing. The night concluded with an ambulance being called to transport Maxwell to the hospital.

The incident comes at a crucial time for Maxwell, who is expected to return for the upcoming three-match T20I series starting on February 9. Cricket Australia, keenly aware of the situation, has refrained from making additional comments.

As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the all-rounder will face any sanctions. The timing of Maxwell's withdrawal from the ODI squad, coinciding with this incident, adds an intriguing layer to the situation.
