West Indies women level score after spectacular display against India in second T20I
The West Indies women defeated India women in the second T20I by nine wickets.
India women and the West Indies women continued their ongoing series by facing off in the second T20I. Both sides locked horns at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on Tuesday, December 17. The clash began with India skipper Smriti Mandhana's side coming in to bat first after losing the toss.
The side opened their innings with Smriti Mandhana and Uma Chetry scoring 62 and 4 runs, respectively. Jemimah Rodrigues added 13 runs on the board with Raghvi Bist adding just five runs on the board. After Mandhana’s knock to open the innings, only Richa Ghosh added 32 runs on the board, but none of the other batters could amount to much.
The Indian team was limited to a score of 159 runs in the first innings of the game. As for the West Indies, Afy Fletcher, Chinelle Henry, Deandra Dottin, and Hayley Matthews were among the wicket takers, as all of them took two wickets each and put in a brilliant performance in the first innings of the game.
Hayley Matthews finishes job for West Indies levelling series
Aiming to chase down a target of 160 runs, the Windies got off to a good start. Qiana Joseph scored 38 runs in 22 deliveries but was sent back to the pavilion by Saima Thakor. However, Hayley Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle put in brilliant performances and finished the job for the Windies.
Opening the innings, Hayley Matthews played a marvellous knock of 85* runs in 47 deliveries. Furthermore, Campbell added 29* runs in 26 deliveries as the visitors chased down the target in 15.4 overs and won the game by nine wickets.

With the series levelled, both sides will now shift their focus onto the third T20I. India women will take on the West Indies women in the third clash at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on Thursday, December 19.
