What is a modular stadium which will be built for India-Pakistan match in New York?

The USA is all set to host the premium clash between India and Pakistan at the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Slated to be held from June 4 to 30, the T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies. 

As per the recently announced schedule, India will lock horns with Pakistan on June 9 at the new Nassau County International Stadium in New York's Long Island, where a 34,000-seat temporary stadium will be constructed.

The Eisenhower Park agreement with Nassau County officials is said to be key to solving the ICC’s problems in the context of the venues present in the USA for a cricket match. It is also worth noting that the temporary stadium will be made from modular steel and aluminium technology and the various other facilities will comprise marquee tents and modular structures.

A modular stadium is built of aluminium and steel making the completion easier and faster. This methodology permits for a cost-effective installation of infrastructure while maintaining safety, comfort and aesthetic, ICC stated. 

The modular stadiums usually take around 2-3 months to be built and the modular stadium slated to host the India vs Pakistan match would have a capacity of 34,000. 

With the launch of the MLC (Major League Cricket), cricket in America has already reached new heights and the co-hosting of the T20 World Cup would further help the USA’s case in popularising cricket in the country. 

It is also interesting to note that the design of the modular stadium in completely customisable, providing enough flexibility to make changes on the go if needed. The work schedule of the venue is slated to begin from the end of January 2024 and is expected to be finished by May.
