India skipper Rohit Sharma has refrained outside pressure from affecting the mentality of the players saying that just one big game is not enough to define their careers. His remarks came ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup  2022 second semifinal against England at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.

The Indian team would be eyeing a third T20 World Cup final appearance by getting the better of the Three Lions in this match and set up a final date with arch-rivals Pakistan at the MCG on Sunday, November 13.

There’s only one opportunity to do well in a knockout game: Rohit Sharma

“There’s only one opportunity to do well in a knockout game”, said Rohit Sharma during the pre-match press conference. “But for players, what they’ve done in their career doesn’t define them by just one knockout game," he added.

“The entire year you work so hard to get where you want to and to do well in whichever format you play," the Indian captain further added.

“So one particular game is not going to decide that. Knockout games are important and if you do well it gives you immense confidence," he said.

This will be the first time that India and England will be locking horns in a World Cup knockout fixture after 35 years. The last time this happened was during the 1987 World Cup semis at the Wankhede Stadium. England won that clash by 35 runs to end India’s title defence.

The Men in Blue would be hoping for another impactful knocks from the in-form duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli. However, they would also be expecting skipper Rohit Sharma to come out all guns blazing. He has only managed a solitary half-century so far.

Apart from all these, it remains to be seen whether the team management would prefer fielding Rishabh Pant or veteran Dinesh Karthik for this key clash. India would be oozing with confidence heading into this clash having finished as the table toppers in Group 2.
