Former India pacer Ashish Nehra is one of the best left-arm pacers to have graced the Indian cricket. He has proved his mettle playing for over 13 years for the country before hanging his boots in 2017. His most memorable spell came against England during World Cup 2003 as he picked 6/23 despite battling with swollen leg a night before the game.
Nehra was trained by one of the most decorated coaches of Indian cricket, Tarak Sinha. Sinha founded the renowned Sonnet Cricket Club in Delhi in 1969, a place from where players such as Virender Sehwag, Aakash Chopra, Anjum Chopra, and Shikhar Dhawan graduated to further echelons. But, when Nehra got to know the financial issues his coach was facing, where he was struggling for a house to live, the cricketer gifted his coach a new house. The incident came into light through commentator Padamjeet Sehrawat.

"Once, Nehra was training at Sonnet Cricket Club and coach Tarak Sinha was late to reach the ground. Nehra teased his coach, saying, 'How will you train your students as you himself coming late?'. Tarak Sinha replied, 'You're an Indian cricketer, you live in a bungalow and I live in a rented house. My house owner has sent a notice that two will have to leave that place within two days. I went to search for a new place and hence got late',' said Sehrawat on Richa Jain Kalra's podcast.
"For the next two days to that banter, the club remained closed due to rain and on the third day, Ashish Nehra got three hours late to reach the club. Reigniting the banter, Sinha sir said, 'Test player! You were giving wise words that day, what happened to you today?' Nehra handed over the key of a house to Sinha revealing that he had bought him a new home to save him from his crisis,” he added.
