Former India skipper Virat Kohli has revealed that MS Dhoni reached out to him personally after he gave up Test captaincy earlier this year. Kohli stepped down from the helm in the longest format of the game after India lost the three-match series against South Africa. He was going through one of the toughest phases of his career then having been removed from ODI captaincy controversially.

The 33-year-old recently opened up about not being well mentally too but has returned fresh after a one-month break from the sport. Coming back to his revelation about Dhoni messaging him personally after resigning as Test captain, Virat Kohli highlighted a special connection between them.

He also noted that many people have his contact number but it was only Dhoni, among the players he has played with before, who contacted and checked on him. "When I gave up Test captaincy, the first message I received was from MSD among the players with whom I have played with before. Many people have my number, but just MS messaged me. When there's respect between two players, there's a connection. I individually reach out to MSD whenever I want," Kohli said while speaking in the post-match press conference.

Giving a lot of suggestions on various platforms isn't important for me, says Kohli

Meanwhile, it seems that Virat Kohli has listened to a lot of suggestions from various experts and former cricketers over the last few months. He also took an indirect dig at them saying that many were giving him suggestions through various platforms but he likes to reach out personally even if he wants to help someone.

"Giving a lot of suggestion on various platforms isn't important for me as many did it. If I want to tell anyone something, I will reach out personally. If you give suggestions in front of the whole world, then for me that has no value," Kohli added. Meanwhile, the man seemed to have regained his form as he smashed his record 32nd T20I half-century in the game against Pakistan. His 60-run knock was instrumental in India posting 181 runs on the board. But Pakistan held their nerve in the last-over thriller to chase down the target.
