The Indian Team will play the first of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand on Friday, January 27th in Ranchi. The two sides recently concluded their three-match ODI series, where the Men in Blue clinched a magnificent 3-0 victory.
The team that is set to face New Zealand in the T20I series is a mix of young and experienced players. Jitesh Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, and Shivam Mavi, for example, are among the lesser experienced ones. They have a fantastic chance to leave their imprint on the side that Hardik Pandya, the captain, is transitioning. Under Pandya's guidance, the Indian team has not lost any T20I series.
Ranchi is the hometown of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the former Indian skipper made sure he gave some valuable inputs to the youngsters in the team as they gear up for the first T20I.
Dhoni's last appearance with the Indian team was at the T20 World Cup in 2021, where he served as their mentor and was present for the entire competition. Dhoni visited the team ahead of the first contest, and had conversations with several players.
Prithvi Shaw posted a picture on social media with the CSK skipper and captioned it:
“When in Ranchi. Happy to spend some time with Mahi Bhai post training. #TeamIndia.”
On the eve of the first T20I, Hardik Pandya told the media that young Prithvi Shaw will be required to wait for his chance while adding that Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill will open India's batting in the first game. Shaw would be trying to make his time with the team useful as he looks to establish himself in the Indian set-up. In the absence of the senior players. the Hardik pandya-led Indian side would be hoping to get off to a good start
