It's not for nothing without cause that Shakib Al Hasan is tagged as one of Bangladesh's most prominent cricketers since they came to the forefront as far as being globally recognized is concerned. His impeccable record with bat and ball offers adequate testimony to the aforementioned assertion.

26-year-old Bangladeshi all-rounder, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, recently spoke on Shakib as well as his roles for the nation. When being debriefed by reporters at Mirpur post one of their practice sessions with regards to the future of Bangladesh cricket post Shakib's retirement, Miraz admitted that his role for the team may take on greater weight.

"When there are all-rounders in the side, it's advantageous to the team. Since we are both playing, we are both serving in important roles with bat and ball. In world cricket, everyone has to go into retirement at some point in time. Every team has some sort of replacement. When Shakib bhai won't play anymore, maybe my responsibility will be of greater importance for the team," stated Miraz, as quoted by The Daily Star.

If I can continue that for a long time, hopefully I can become the best all-rounder: Miraz

Coming on the back of a personally successful away series against Pakistan which had him register 155 runs in two innings coupled with securing 10 dismissals at a strike rate of 37.80, Miraz hoped that he could emulate his senior in terms of the accolades earned in the long run.

"The way it's going on now, if I can continue that for a long time, then hopefully I can become the best all-rounder," added Miraz.
