Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets for 32 runs in the second T20I of the series against Afghanistan in Indore. Notably, consistency has been a major problem for the youngster in the recent past but has done well in the ongoing series, which will help him gain momentum ahead of the third T20I in Bengaluru, which is also India’s last T20I match ahead of the T20 Word Cup.

In the last match, the young pacer dismantled the Afghan middle order, picking up the wickets of Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat and Noor Ahmad. It helped India restrict the visitors to 172 runs and eventually win the match by six wickets.

Meanwhile, speaking about his role in the national team, the pacer mentioned that it gets easier when the team management provides enough clarity. He mentioned that the players tend to come up with good performances when the role is defined.

“Players' roles are defined. As a bowler, you know, you have to bowl at the start and middle overs. When there is clarity, you come up with good performances,” Arshdeep was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The 24-year-old also opened up about his own form. He acknowledged his poor performances in the last 12 months but said it has gotten better with experience. He mentioned trying a few varieties in the last match and added that it has worked well for him, which has given him some confidence.

“The last 12 months have been a mixed bag (of experience). There were a few good performances and I got to learn something new. There were a few ups and downs as well, making my performances neutral. Specifically, I recently started (bowling) with new ball, especially on slow wickets. In the last match, I tried a few variations, especially against left-handers, and it worked and it gave me some confidence. Otherwise, I am trying to sharpen my skills,” Arshdeep said.
