India were outclassed by Sri Lanka by 32 runs in the second ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 4. Chasing an average target of 241 runs, India were off to a great start as Rohit Sharma made a slow track foolish to the spectators with his fiery 64 off 44. Before Rohit got out, India were 97 runs in 13.2 overs and the team crumbled thereafter as Rohit stressed playing consistent cricket.

India needed just 144 runs in 219 balls with nine wickets in hand after India's captain departed. But the team managed just 64 runs in almost 29 overs they batted and lost all of their wickets. Shubman Gill partnered well with Rohit with 35 off 44 and only Axar Patel pitched in with substantial 44 runs. The 37-year-old added that as a batter one has to take risks and cross the line to get desired results.

“When you lose a game, everything hurts. It's not just about those 10 overs. You have to play consistent cricket and we failed to do that today. Little disappointed but these things happen. You have to adapt to what's in front of you,” said Rohit as quoted by RCB's official website.

“With left-right, we felt it'll be easier to rotate strike. Credit to Jeffrey, he got six wickets. The reason I got 65 is because of the way I batted. When I am batting like that, there's a lot of risks taken. If you don't cross the line, you always feel disappointed,” he added.

India will take on Sri Lanka in the third ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 7. Sri Lanka have an edge going into the last game of the tour with a margin of 1-0. The third game, if India manages to win, will level the series. If Sri Lanka wins the final ODI, they will create history by defeating India for the first time in an ODI series after 1997.
