Virat Kohli seems to have rediscovered his lost touch with the bat in the ongoing edition of the ICC  T20 World Cup 2022 which is being played in Australia. Kohli has already registered three half-centuries from the four matches that India have played so far and he is well on the road to be a top contender for being adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

Meanwhile, the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup has also witnessed the batting megastar holding multiple records in the history of this showpiece event which have not only helped him in occupying a special place featuring some of the legends of the game, but also in achieving personal milestones which are difficult to be shattered for a long time.

Virat Kohli's brilliance in T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli has now officially become the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 World Cup history by surpassing the Sri Lankan icon Mahela Jayawardene (1016) runs. He achieved this feat during India's Super 12 match against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 2. Kohli remained unbeaten till the end scoring 64 runs off 44 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 144.5.

The batting icon also boasts of having the highest batting average of 88.75 in T20 World Cup history and has the most number of half-centuries (13). Apart from all these, Virat has also won the most number of Player of the Match awards which happen to be seven.

It seems that he is going to remain at the top for a long time as he is going strong at 1065 runs from the 25 matches and 23 innings that he has played in this compeetition averaging 88.75 and a strike rate of 132.46 including 13 half-centuries. Only his teammate and captain Rohit Sharma (921) is an active player in this category and occupies the fourth position.

Not just the most number of Player of the Match awards, but the 33-year-old also has the most number of Player of the Tournament awards as well. In fact, he has won two of them in back-to-back editions in 2014 and 2016- a feat which might never be broken .
