Cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have retired from international cricket a long time ago, but interestingly, they still receive paychecks from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Many cricket followers are in awe as to why retired players continue to earn from the board even after their playing days ended long ago. The reasons lie in central contracts, pensions, and their valuable contributions to Indian cricket.

Here are the three reasons why MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar still receive money from BCCI:

1. BCCI Pension Scheme

One of the most obvious reasons why both Tendulkar and Dhoni receive money is the BCCI's scheme of pensions for retired international cricketers. The board grants a monthly pension to elderly players as part of its guidelines to offer support to those who have contributed substantially to Indian cricket. Since both these players had great and eminent careers, they highly deserve this perk. The pension amount changes, relying on the number of ODIs and Tests played.

2. Share from the Revenue Pool

BCCI has a process of allocating a share of its earnings from media rights and sponsorship pacts among both former and current players. This makes sure that former cricketers, especially those who contributed to the country during low earnings, continue to get financial perks even after retirement.

Tendulkar, in particular, remains associated with the BCCI in various scopes. He was part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) and has served as a mentor or advisor on different occasions.

3. Indian Premier League and other commitments

While Dhoni advances and stays to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings, his cooperation with the BCCI remains intact. Retired players who take up coaching or mentorship roles in IPL franchises or Indian cricket often receive paychecks from the board in multiple ways.

Even after taking a step back from the cricketing world, legends like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni continue to contribute to the game in different ways. Pensions, revenue shares and occasional roles stems them with the offers from BCCI for contributing to the Indian cricket team. This system assures that the country's biggest cricketing legends are supported financially while staying connected and supporting the sport that they built.
