Why is Mukesh Kumar not playing IPL 2024 Match 16 between DC vs KKR?

Delhi Capitals (DC) are about to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Both teams are coming into the game having won their respective last fixtures. DC beat Chennai Super Kings to register the first win of the season while KKR beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru to register the second consecutive victory.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first in their third game as both teams made a couple of changes to their squad. Delhi were forced to bench Mukesh Kumar who was their best bowler in their previous fixture against CSK registering figures of 3/21 in three overs. The right-arm seamer unfortunately missed out due to an injury and had to be replaced with Sumit Kumar. The right-arm seamer has played two matches in the season so far and bowled 1.2 overs conceding 19 runs.

On the other hand, KKR also made a change to their playing XI bringing in all-rounder Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the place of Anukul Roy. The latter has bowled just one over in the season so far giving away just six runs and hasn’t got an opportunity to bat as well. However, Roy has been included in the list of impact substitutes for Kolkata.
