West Indies international Jason Holder will miss the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh due to shoulder rehabilitation. The all-rounder featured last in the Caribbean Premier League and since then, he has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury and for the same reason, he didn’t feature in the marquee white-ball series against England.
In Holder’s absence, off-spinner Kevin Sinclair has been called up to the 15-member squad. He missed the South Africa series due to injury and has now regained fitness and will be a key part of West Indies’ bowling department. Anderson Phillip managed a call-up as well, having played the last Test in December 2022 in Australia. Recently, he had done a decent job for Trinidad and Tobago and Worcestershire, which led to his call-up.
Meanwhile, pacer Alzaari Joseph will be making his return as well. He was rested from the South Africa series, citing workload management. Interestingly, the 27-year-old was the Test deputy ahead of the South Africa series and when he was rested, Joshua de Silva was handed the responsibility. Now, even in his return to the squad, the team management has retained Joshua as the vice-captain.
Ahead of the two-match series, West Indies Championship XI will play a two-match warm-up game against Bangladesh, starting November 17. Kraigg Brathwaite will lead the squad, while many uncapped players have been called up to be a part of the game.
