Amidst the excitement of the T20I series between England and the West Indies in Trinidad, an unfortunate incident took place. A man was fatally shot dead on Wrightson Road, the same street where the England and West Indies cricket teams are lodged for the final two matches of the five-match series. England's players were informed before their arrival in Trinidad that they were to remain within the confines of the Hyatt Regency hotel, barring cricket-related commitments and a pre-planned golf outing.
Despite the incident, England's scheduled match in Trinidad remains unaffected. The team's spokesperson assured that their security arrangements will remain unchanged. Authorities in Trinidad have initiated an investigation into the unfortunate event that occurred early Sunday morning. The focus, however, remains on the cricketing action as England prepares for its first match in Trinidad after 14 years.
Trinidad and Tobago ranks sixth globally for its crime rate. The UK Government's travel advisory specifically highlights the rise in gang-related attacks and shootings within Port of Spain's city center. It states, "Gang-related attacks and shootings are increasing around the city centre of Port of Spain."
Livingstone shows a resemblance of old self against the West Indies
Liam Livingstone's brisk 30 off 18 deliveries played a crucial role in England's pursuit of 223 against the West Indies, complementing Phil Salt's unbeaten century and keeping the tourists competitive in the series with two games left. Despite a challenging World Cup campaign where he averaged just 10, Livingstone has consistently reached double figures in all three T20I matches against the Windies, with his knock in Grenada marking his highest score yet.
"I couldn't tell you how many fifties or hundreds I score any more. It's all about how many games that you can impact and winning games for your team. I'd much rather get 30 off 18 balls than 50 off 40 balls. Milestones are actually pretty meaningless in T20 cricket, it's all about how you can affect the game and how you can win games. It was unbelievable for Salty to get a hundred but I think he'll be much more pleased he's seen an England team over the line by hitting sixes than getting a hundred for England," Livingstone said as quoted by Sky Sports.
