The surfaces in the United States of America have been kind to the bowlers but conditions in West Indies have sometimes troubled them. St Lucia in particular saw plenty of runs being scored as Sri Lanka and West Indies have already breached the 200-run mark barrier once.
Ahead of their Super 8 match against the Rovman Powell-led side, England seamer Reece Topley stated that he expects the surface to support the batters again and believes the bowlers need to pull up their socks. He added that the time has come for the bowlers to take a bit of medicine and voiced that he is ready for the challenge.

“It's nice that there's obviously new conditions to try and adapt to but I think it's going to make for a pretty good cricket wicket regardless. I think the wickets have been kind to bowlers so far so it might be time to take a bit of medicine and it might be in the business of problem-solving now and things are a bit more complicated for us as a bowler but the mission statement is pretty much the same,” Topley was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
We can put on a good show regardless of the outcome: Topley
Topley wasn’t part of the playing XI in England’s first two matches and since his return, the Three Lions haven’t lost a game. They were on the verge of elimination but back-to-back wins against Oman and Namibia changed their fortune as the Jos Buttler-led side is once again eyeing the coveted trophy. They will play West Indies, South Africa and USA in the Super 8 and the top two teams from the group will qualify for the semi-final.
Meanwhile, England received ample support in the Caribbean islands when they last visited in December 2023. Topley hoped that would continue in the Super Eight as the team ought to produce good shows.

“Even when we came here in November, it was very well supported with English fans. Yeah, hopefully, we can put on a good show regardless of the outcome. It's going to be amazing, I'm sure it's going to be a night that hopefully we all look back on in our career that was quite a poignant night in this World Cup and helping us to achieve our goal,” Topley said.
