When it comes to transforming Cricket in India, the 1983 World Cup always comes up as the first thing in cricket aficionados' minds as it paved the way and the self-belief that the nation can win from any situation if the players representing do not give up. But this legacy was started by none other than the legendary former India skipper and world champion, Kapil Dev. Moreover, who can forget his legendary knock of 175 that brought a new revolution to the country against the odds?

While the Indian fans love talking about his famed innings but the man himself refrains from discussing about it out of sheer humbleness. Interestingly enough, during a recent interview, Kapil Dev discussed about various issues related to Indian cricket. He was asked about why India have not been able to find a top-class bowling all-rounder who can also lead from the front. To this, he responded by saying that nobody really looks for a specific kind of player. To him what seems more important is how a player is groomed and treated properly in the long run.

"Why do you want a Kapil Dev? With one Kapil Dev, you can’t win a World Cup. You need a team. But you will always find someone better than me," Kapil said.

Fascinatingly enough, the 64-year-old pointed out something intriguing. The legend believes that with each passing generation, the cricketers have become better at the art of batting or bowling. Hence, it is not apt to say that there will be no next big thing in the world of Cricket.

After Sachin, we asked, will we get another? Virat Kohli is sitting there, better average, better fitness: Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev further elaborated on his observations by citing a few examples to prove his argument. The Chandigarh-born iterated the fact that earlier when the legendary Sir Don Bradman was playing and then hung his boots, people back then still had the question of whether anyone would be able to come close to Bradman in any aspect of his batting elegance and finesse. Moreover, in the Indian context, he cited Sunil Gavaskar's name as well.

But then it was none other than Sachin Tendulkar who not only became a close reflection to the legend but also got the compliment of the legend himself. Besides, he also added that when Tendulkar stopped playing, thereafter Virat Kohli took the mantle and the pressure of his fans over him and delivered the goods not only in terms of batting but also through better fitness. Besides, he also named the rising Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz who recently trumped Novak Djokovic to win the Wimbledon Cup.

"We haven’t found another Don Bradman. You don’t look for that. You make a team. You see this young tennis player come out (Carlos Alcaraz), what a player. We thought after Sunil Gavaskar nobody will come close to him. But Sachin did everything with so much ease. And after Sachin, we asked, will we get another? Virat Kohli is sitting there, better average, better score, better fitness. So, the next generation is always better. We have to invest and make sure we treat them properly," Kapil concluded.
