Mumbai Indians have announced their coaching team for the upcoming Women's Premier League (WPL) and it features stalwarts such as Charlotte Edwards, Jhulan Goswami and Devieka Palshikaar.
Former England skipper Edwards will take charge as their head coach while Jhulan will take up the role of mentor and bowling coach. In addition to that, Devieka will head the duties as their batting coach. Charlotte Edwards is one of the veterans in the women's circuit. She had successfully led England to a 50-over World Cup title in 2009 after her side defeated New Zealand in the finals of the event by four wickets.
She has a lot of experience as a coach and that is likely the reason behind her addition to MI's coaching structure. She coached Southern Brave (Women) in the inaugural edition of The Hundred. Additionally, she also headed the coaching staff of Sydney Sixers (Women) in the recently culminated edition of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). Under her guidance, Sixers went all the way to the finals but lost to Adelaide Strikers in the summit clash by ten runs.
Jhulan, on the other hand, is one of the most successful pacers in the history of the women's game with most number of wickets in ODIs. She grabbed 255 wickets in 204 matches and finished as the highest wicket-taker in the format after she hung up her international boots in September 2022 in England.
The third name on the panel happens to be of Devieka who also has plenty of experience as coach. The former India player has served as the coach of Velocity in the Women's T20 Challenge 2022 and was the assistant coach of India between 2014 and 2016, and assistant coach of Bangladesh in 2018.
