Women's T20 Asia Cup 2022: Schedule announced for the tournament, India face Pakistan on October 7

Bangladesh are the defending champions while India are the most successful team with six titles to their name.

The Indian women's team would be looking forward to putting up a good show in the next year's ICC T20 World Cup in South Africa. Before that, they will get an opportunity to showcase their supremacy in Asia as the schedule for the Women's Asia Cup has officially been announced.

The 2022 edition of the Women's Asia Cup will be played between October 1 to 15 and the news was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, September 20 including the full fixtures of the tournament.

The tournament will commence with Bangladesh taking on Thailand and then India facing Sri Lanka on the opening day. The league stage will go on till October 11 while the semi-finals will take place on October 13 and the final scheduled on October 15.

India have won Asia Cup record six times

This will be the eighth edition of the Women's Asia Cup. The 2022 tournament will be played in the T20 format. Bangladesh will be defending their title. They had beaten India in the finals of the last edition in 2018. Nonetheless, the Indian eves are the most successful team in the history of the competition having won the title a record six times and they would be eyeing their seventh Asia Cup crown.

The eighth edition of the Women's Asia Cup will see seven teams battling it out for Asian supremacy. They include the likes of the defending champions Bangladesh, former champions India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates respectively. 

The UAE and Malaysia were the last two teams who booked their respective berths in the upcoming tournament having successfully made the finals of the 2022 ACC Women's T20 Championship.

The Women's Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled to be contested at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. All eyes would be on some of India's key players in the upcoming tournament including the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh Thakur, etc.
