India continued their victory march in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 as they beat West Indies in their second game by six wickets on February 15. Following India’s emphatic win, captain Harmanpreet Kaur was full of praise for Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh, who shone with the ball and bat respectively.

Deepti was the pick of the bowlers as she successfully deceived West Indies batters with her variations. She picked up three wickets for just 15 runs in her quota of four overs. On the other hand, Richa scored an unbeaten 44 off 32 to help India chase 119 with 11 balls to spare. She was involved in a 72-run stand with Harmanpreet, which took India to safety after they had lost three wickets for 43 runs.

The Indian captain was highly impressed with her bowlers who restricted West Indies to a below-par score when at one stage it looked like they will cross 150. “It was a great day for us. Whatever we were expecting, we were able to do especially our bowling," Harmanpreet said in the post-match presentation.

Speaking about Deepti’s bowling, she said that she worked hard with the bowling coach after her disappointing outing in the last game and it worked wonders for her on Wednesday. “We discussed about Deepti’s bowling in the team meeting and she was not happy with the last game, the bowling coach helped her and today she got the results," she added.

Harmanpreet was also highly impressed with Richa's ability to hit big shots and finish the game for the team. “She (Richa) has been great for us. She’s someone who can pull the game for us and we are really happy that she is in that touch. We are happy with the two results and want to continue this rhythm in the next game," Harmanpreet said.

After winning their first two games against Pakistan and West Indies, India will next face England at St George's Park, Gqeberha on Febraury 18. India are currently ranked second in Group B as England have a better net run rate despite having the same number of points after the first two matches.
