The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Tuesday, June 27, announced the schedule for the much-awaited Cricket World Cup 2023. The tournament is all set to kick-off on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where defending champions England will take on the previous two editions’ finalists New Zealand. 

While England and New Zealand will be playing the curtain raiser, Pakistan will open their campaign on the second day of the tournament where they will take on one of the qualified teams of the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers 2023. Bangladesh and Afghanistan will start their campaign on October 7 when they take on each other.

The second team to qualify from the World Cup qualifiers will first face South Africa on October 7 in the second game of the doubleheader. India, the hosts, will kick off their campaign when they take on Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8, Sunday.

The entire tournament will be played in a round-robin format where all 10 teams will face the other nine teams once. The teams that manage to secure a place in the top four of the points table after the end of the league stage will qualify for the knockout stages, which will begin from 15^th November. Winners of the semi-final will lock horns in the summit clash on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
