WPL 2023: Who is Tara Norris?

With the inaugural Women's Premier League auction providing opportunities to cricketers all over the world, many will be looking forward to the talent that flourishes during the WPL; one such talent could be Tara Norris of the United States.

The 24-year-old, Tara Norris, is an American bowler who plays for South English side, Southern Vipers. She has also represented the Sussex Women's side. She will be getting her biggest break yet, as Norris was brought in by the Delhi Capitals for the 2023 WPL.

Norris, who was born in Philadelphia and is half Italian, has emerged as a rising star on the domestic circuit. Representing the United States of America, she has played five T20I matches, where she has picked up 4 wickets. Her break with the Delhi Capitals at the WPL could prove to be essential for her career going forward.

Norris signed a professional contract with the Southern Vipers in December 2020, and she is continuing to grow as a threat on the domestic circuit while also getting opportunities internationally.

The Delhi Capitals rope in many big names

After a slow start to the WPL auction, the Delhi Capitals made up for it by roping in 22-year-old, Jemimah Rodrigues, and the captain of the U19 Indian side, Shafali Verma. DC also brought in five-time T20 World Cup champion, Meg Lanning.

DC have also brought in the South African all-rounder, Marizanne Kapp, whose performances could be integral if they are looking to win the inaugural season of the WPL. Titas Sadhu, and Alice Capsey would provide DC with some much-needed bowling offence.

The Delhi-based side also went big for Indian players. Roping in all-rounders in Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav, who would be influential with both the bat and the ball. Jemimah was the team’s biggest buy, as they brought in the 22-year-old for a whopping 2.2 crore, and they will depend on her to spearhead the batting attack of the side.
