The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru witnessed a one-sided clash on Tuesday, February 27, as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB-W) made light work of Gujarat Giants (GG-W) in match No. 5 of the WPL 2024.
After Smriti Mandhana won the toss and invited Gujarat to bat first, Renuka Singh and Sophie Molineux were in red-hot form as they took five wickets between them. Gujarat huffed and puffed their way to 107/7 in their 20 overs after Dayalan Hemalatha played a handy knock of 31 not out off 25 balls.
However, this total was way below par. Mandhana led the charge with the bat, scoring 43 off 27 balls. Sabbhineni Meghana and Ellyse Perry saw their team through as Bangalore won by eight wickets with 45 balls to spare.
With this comprehensive performance, Bangalore climbed to the top of the table, while Gujarat slipped below UP Warriorz to occupy the last position.
The next match in WPL 2024 is going to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium between Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz on Wednesday, February 28.
