WPL 2025: MI and RCB pick Parunika Sisodia and Nuzhat Parween as injury replacements

Mumbai Indians have named Under-19 World Cup winner Parunika Sisodia as a replacement for the seasoned Pooja Vastrakar for the upcoming edition of the Women's Premier League, which commences from February 14. The Indian pace bowler was recently ruled out due to a knee injury, which has kept her out of competitive cricket since October 2024.
Sisodia was one of the stars of India Women U19 during their recent title-winning campaign. The left-arm spinner starred with 10 wickets in six games, serving as one of the many crucial components of the winning side. Notably, she was acquired by Gujarat Giants Women in the inaugural installment of the league. She has joined MI-W for a price tag of INR 10 lakh.
Nuzhat Parween replaces Asha Sobhana
Meanwhile, the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru , have replaced the injured Asha Sobhana with the Madhya Pradesh-born wicketkeeper-batter, Nuzhat Parween. Parween, who represents Railways, has represented India Women in five T20Is. She will join RCB-W for her base price of INR 30 lakh.

Sobhana last featured in the Women's T20 World Cup in October 2024, and has been recuperating from her injury ever since. The leg-spinning all-rounder was vital for the franchise in the last edition as she emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets.
Along with Sobhana, Shreyanka Patil is also a doubtful starter post an extended rehabilitation process from a shin injury. The two have did not feature in India's home season as well as theier three-match ODI tour Down Under.
The curtain-raiser of WPL 2025 will see the Giants take on the Bengaluru-based franchise at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 pm (IST) on Friday, February 14.
