WPL 2025: UP Warriorz’s hat-trick hero Grace Harris says Chinelle Henry made batting look easy

"Hopefully this win against the Delhi Capitals turns the tide for us. Interestingly, I was joking in the bowlers meeting before the game that I was going to take a hat-trick,” said Harris.

The UP Warriorz had an evening to remember at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as they stormed over the line against the Delhi Capitals. Chinelle Henry, Grace Harris and Kranti Goud played starring roles, and swung the contest in favour of the UP Warriorz. Led by Deepti Sharma, the UP Warriorz defeated the Delhi Capitals by 33 runs, with Chinelle Henry picking up the Player of the Match award.

While Chinelle Henry, who hit the joint-fastest half-century in the WPL, scored her fifty from 18 deliveries, young pacer Kranti Goud and Australian all-rounder Grace Harris bagged four wickets each. Grace Harris put the seal on the win with hat-trick in the final over the game. This was the third hat-trick in the history of the WPL, and the second for the UP Warriorz, after Deepti Sharma did it against the Delhi Capitals in Season 2.

Speaking about her hat-trick after the game, Grace Harris said, “The UP Warriorz are enjoying their time and loving the WPL. Hopefully this win against the Delhi Capitals turns the tide for us. Interestingly, I was joking in the bowlers meeting before the game that I was going to take a hat-trick.”

Along with Grace Harris’ last over heroics, the UP Warriorz were given a massive boost in momentum by the Jamaican Chinelle Henry, who was drafted into the squad for the injured Alyssa Healy. And since arriving in the WPL, the all-rounder has been one of the best performers for the UP Warriorz.

“Chinelle’s brilliant batting was outstanding to watch, and she was hitting it very cleanly, and that helped us get some momentum, and also a winning score. She made batting look very easy on a wicket that wasn’t the easiest, and it is fantastic to see her doing so well. She is a very good striker of the ball and she has a clean swing. She is fantastic around our group,” said Grace Harris.

Grace Harris also heaped praise on the young pacer Kranti Goud. She said, “Kranti is a fantastic bowler, a very determined and strong character, who has impressed us all. Dismissing the likes of Shafali Verma, Meg Lanning, Jemimah Rodrigues and Jess Jonassen isn’t easy, and she had a very big role to play in the win for us. I am manifesting more wickets for her in the WPL.”

Up next on Monday for the UP Warriorz is the defending champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are led by Smriti Mandhana. Looking ahead to that, Grace Harris said, “We must get in on matchday refreshed and relaxed, and know exactly what we need to do against our opposition.  The mood in the camp is quite positive and happy, and that’s always the case in this UP Warriorz camp, and we have pretty good group. We are looking forward to facing RCB at home, it is going to be very loud and it will be great if we can get a win against a quality side like RCB. You can win games if you execute your plans properly.”
