Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) are set to take on Mumbai Indians Women (MUM-W) in the Women's Premier League (WPL 2025) final, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, on Saturday, March 15.

Delhi captain Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to field first. She went on to announce that left-arm spinner Shree Charani will be playing the all-important encounter in place of seamer Titas Sadhu. It is a bold call as the Capitals have decided to drop the Chinsura-pacer who has more experience of playing in the WPL.

Charani has played only one game this season. It was against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier this month at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The 20-year-old picked up two wickets, conceding 28 runs in her four overs. She dismissed the dangerous Richa Ghosh and a well-set Raghvi Bist in that encounter.

Lanning did not mention any particular reason behind leaving out Sadhu, but experts feel that the Capitals want to bolster their spin-bowling department in the high-voltage clash.

What did the two captains say at the toss?

Lanning said that her team is feeling fresh after enjoying a considerable break. She hoped that her team would be able to put on their best performance in the title decider. "Going to have a bowl tonight. Conditions are going to remain the same, and it's worked for us throughout the tournament. We've had some time off to refresh and we're excited about tonight. It's an opportunity for us. Need to play well and hopefully it's our best performance. One change for us, Shree comes in for Sadhu," Lanning said.

Harmanpreet said that she would have bowled first had she won the toss. She reminisced the final match in the inaugural season at the Brabourne Stadium where Mumbai defeated Delhi to win the title.

"Even we were looking to bowl. But I think anything is good for us. If we look at the stats of the last four games, team batting first has won. Staying balanced and staying in the moment has worked for us. They've played really good cricket in this tournament. The last week has gone well for us. We have a lot of great memories from the first season. Today is a new day, a beautiful day and we want to enjoy our cricket. Same team for us," Harmanpreet stated.
