The final of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2025) was won by Mumbai Indians Women (MUM-W) over Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) by an eight-run margin. With this, they secured their second title in three years.
Marizanne Kapp kicked off proceedings with a bang. Delhi had Mumbai in all sorts of trouble at 20/2 after the first six overs. Kapp finished her four-over spell by the end of the seventh over of the game. Her figures read a brilliant 2/11 in four overs. Coming off a match-winning 77, Hayley Matthews was dismissed cheaply. The West Indian could only manage three off 10 deliveries.
Harmanpreet Kaur combined brilliantly with Natalie Sciver-Brunt to bail her side out of early trouble. It was courtesy of her majestic 66 off 44 deliveries that Mumbai ended up with a competitive 149 on the board. Crucial contributions from G Kamalini and Amanjot Kaur at the end helped too.
Delhi lost their openers in the powerplay as well. However, they had posted 37 on the board. Wickets falling at regular intervals meant they could never really take off. Coming off a brilliant display with the ball, Kapp was the only one who truly fought with the bat. Till the time she was at the crease, the game was in the balance.
The moment she was dismissed for 40 off 26, the game swung in Mumbai’s favour. Young Niki Prasad never really got set. She could only manage one four and one six despite spending considerable time at the crease. Mumbai finished the job in style, emerging as WPL champions.
As MI-W clinched the WPL 2025 title, let's take a look at the award winners final:
